Recap of Men's National Championship

Well, after that fantastic game I needed to take a day off from betting.  I was biting my nails from start to finish.  I went 1-1 on the day with MY PLAY OF THE DAY being a WINNER.  That brings my overall record to 25-15-1 and PLAY OF THE DAY record to 9-0.  I believe some of my readers were confused over what my PLAY OF THE DAY actually was.  I did think Memphis would be the National Champion, however I knew it would be a back and forth game between two truely great teams.  I knew this one could go either way so decided the OVER/UNDER was a safer bet.  If you read a few posts back you will see I also did this with the NIT Championship and won.  If you read my post on the National Championship game you will see my PLAY OF THE DAY was the UNDER.  Im assuming the picture I used in the post threw everybody off.

                                                                          

Kansas VS Memphis:  The game itself was an absolute thriller.  Both teams rushed the ball up and down the floor and missed a ton of shots.  There were lots of steals, blocks and hustle plays.  Kansas was terrible from three (until the final two minutes,) while Memphis went 7/16 in the second half from the free throw line.  Kansas took a 33-28 lead into the locker room.  Derrick Rose, who only score 2 points in the first half, emerged in the second half as he finished with 18 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds.  Memphis led by 9 with about two minutes to go and looked like they had the title won.  Chris Douglas Roberts and Derrick Rose combined to make only 1 of their last 5 allowing Kansas' Mario Chalmers to send the game into OT.  This is where Kansas took all their momentum and unleashed it on a shell shocked Memphis team.  The UNDER 148.5 was a brilliant call as my PLAY OF THE DAY considering the game had 17 points total scored in overtime and still stayed under.  Just as I predicted, both teams defenses would shine in this high tempo affair.

Men's National Championship Game

Kansas vs Memphis:  This is quite possibly the toughest game of the year to call.  I nailed both games in the final four and both over/unders.  Memphis is led by Freshman point guard Derrick Rose who is battling a stomach virus.  He has shut down all the big time guards in college basketball including D.J. Augustin, Darren Collison and Drew Neitzel.  Kansas is led by a combination of Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers.  Both teams play super tough defense and love to run up and down the floor.  Memphis is a 1.5 point favorite and they are the team that I initially felt would win it all.  Favorites in the championship game are 10-0 in the last 10 NCAA tournaments.  However, 58% of the public consensus is on Memphis and I am not sure if Vegas will lose this game the way they lost the super bowl.  Regardless, I have to go with my gut here and say THE MEMPHIS TIGERS will be your new National Champion and will cover the 1.5.

Play of the Day:  Both of these teams play a fast paced, up tempo style.  However, both teams have to be emotionally and physically spent from the games played Saturday.  Both teams also play intense defense and I expect this game to go UNDER 148.5.

                                 

Final Four and NBA Saturday

Tough day today.  Was unable to post yesterday and because of that missed giving out a ton of winners.  Lets see what I have today......

NBA Saturday:  My play of the day:  Sacramento plus 12 AT Denver.  In the last 10 meetings between these two teams the win/loss breaks straight down the middle at 5-5.  In Denvers 5 wins they averaged a victory margin of 7.6 points per game.  Out of those 5 Denver wins two of them were by double digits, the largest being by 16 points.  The smallest margin of victory was by 1 point.  When averaging the points of their 5 wins, the margin comes in at 7 points per game.  Kenyon Martin being out for Denver also does not help in this one.  While I believe Denver will win outright because they are battling for that playoff spot, Sacramento will keep it reasonably close.  My other NBA play is the Charlotte Bobcats + 6 at home against the Boston Celtics.  I know this might sound crazy, but Boston has clinched  homecourt throughout and have nothing to play for.  Charlotte has been on a roll playing spoiler, as they beat Toronto outright last night.  Pierce is also out for Boston, and there is a good chance Garnett and Allen wont play either.

Final Four:  Might be the toughest two games to pick all year.  I will give you picks on both games and both over unders.

Ucla V. Memphis:  UCLA is on a mission, this is their third straight final four and without Florida standing in their way, they feel they can win it all.  Memphis on the other hand plays with unbelievable intensity.  Freshman guard derrick rose may be the best in the nation and will control the pace to this game.  It will be strength vs finesse inside as Joey Dorsey will battle Kevin Love.  For the Bruins to have a chance, Love will have to step outside and knock down some easy jumpers.  My Play on this game is MEMPHIS -2.  However my college PLAY OF THE DAY is OVER 133 on this game.

                                                                                  

Kansas V. North Carolina: Another incredibly tough game to call.  You have the whole Roy Williams saga with him coaching against his former team the Kansas Jayhawks.  North Carolina has dominated people all tournament as they have not really been challenged.  They will get a challenge in this one.  I know I stated in one of my posts earlier this week that I think North Carolina will be too much inside for Kansas, however I have started to change my mind.  Every team plays that close game in route to winning a championship and Kansas played it.  They are getting overlooked because of the close game against Davidson.  Some people just need to admit that Davidson was better than everyone thought they were and they played alot of tough opponents this year.  Im going to go out on a limb here and say KANSAS + 3 will be the winner.  I also love the UNDER 160 as Kansas really knows how to D it up and will force Carolina to do the same.

                                                                            

Recap of NIT Championship and NBA Thursday

Today was a good day.  2-0 on my plays of the day.  0-1 on my other pick for the night which brings my overall record to 16-13-1 and my Play of the Day record to  5-0. 

                                                            

NIT Championship Recap:  As I stated in my post, this would be a very hard game to bet.  Umass was winning 41-36 at half time and was also getting three points.  In the second half both teams absolutely lit up the nets as Ohio State cameback and outlasted Umass for the 92-85 win.  Once again, I stated in my previous post to STAY AWAY from this game.  I told everyone that the play was OVER 149.5, considering the two teams combined for 177, id say I made a brilliant call.

NBA Thursday:  Just as I predicted the Rockets came out hungry and took advantage of a tired team playing without their leader Brandon Roy.  They carried a 9 point lead into half time and after slipping up a little bit at the start of the second half, the Rockets regained their poise and never looked back as they were up by double digits throughout most of the 4th.  Rockets -5 is a winner as the final score was 95-86.  I also believed the the Cavs Bulls game would go under 197.5 however this was my pick that did not win.  The bulls played a tough game to shock Lebron and the Cavs and win 101-98.  Larry Hughes was the unlikely hero against his old team playing inspired ball and filling the stat sheet with 25 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.  As you can see, the game only went over by 1 basket as the teams combined for 199.

NIT Championship and NBA Thursday

NIT Championship: Extremely tough game to call.  Ohio State favored by 3 here and won pretty easily against Mississippi and got solid all around play from a number of different guys including big men Othello Hunter and Kosta Koufos.  Umass played a hell of a second half against a a Florida team that I personally thought I had a chance to win the whole thing after the fire Billy Donovan lit underneath them.  Away from home Ohio State is 4-8 while Umass is 8-6.  If i had to choose I would take the points and take Umass here but I wouldnt be extremely confident on the play.  So what is my pick here?  OVER 149.5!!  Game should be high scoring as both teams can light up the scoreboards.  Fouling at the end could put this one over.

                                                              

NBA Thursday:  Here is where you will get my PLAY OF THE DAY.  I will take the Rockets -5 going into the Rose Garden against the Trailblazers.  Portland will be playing a back to back after flying from Los Angeles where they played and lost by 13 Wednesday night.  Houston has lost back to back games and despite the 22 game winning streak that they had snapped by Boston not too long ago, their playoff hopes could be in jeopardy.  Brandon Roy has also been banged up and may not play in this one.  Houston should be inspired and should cover the 5 points quite easily.  I also like the Cavaliers Bulls game to go UNDER 197.5.  The Cavs play tough Defense and should hold the Bulls down.  Cleveland is also going to be playing the second half of a back to back and should be a little bit tired.

                                                                

RECAP for 3/30

Davidson + 9 yesterday improves my Play of the Day to 3-0 since posting and 14-12-1 overall.  I have not posted for about a month since we are still working on site construction and trying to get the kinks worked out. 

Just as I predicted Stephen Curry and Davidson played Kansas down to the wire but couldn't pull it out.  Would have been nice to see Curry hit a game winning three to send Davidson to the Final Four but what can you do.  Curry became the 8th player in NCCA history to win MOP (Most Outstanding Player) for a region even though he was on the losing team.  Pretty Impressive.  He stated after the game that he will comeback for his Junior season rather than attempt to cash in on his Post Season success. 

The final Four will be very interesting, first time in NCAA history that all four number one seeds made it.  Personally I think that Memphis could get past UCLA, however I would never be condfident going against a Ben Howland squad who has been to three consectutive final fours.  When playing well Collison could be the best point guard in the nation while Freshman Kevin love is giving the Bruins a post presence that they have not had in previous years.  If you want to talk about freshman, Derek Rose of Memphis has been extremely impressive this year, ecspecially during the tournament.  He had 21, 6 rebounds and 9 assists while controlling the pace against 5 seed Michigan State in the regional final.  His ability to shoot the basketball plus takes it to hole is uncanny. 

The other game is also very intriguing.  You have Roy Williams and favorite to win it all North Carolina taking on Roy's old team the Kansas Jayhawks.  I am pretty sure the TarHeels will advance in this one.  Tyler Hansborough is hands down the best player in the country this year while Ty Lawson challenges Collison for best point guard.  While Rush and Chalmers have proved to be special i think Kansas' big men Arthur and Jackson will be overwhelmed.  We will see what the lines are and see how I feel about the games when the time comes.

Will it be all Number one seeds? I say yes but not by very much.  Take DAVIDSON + 9 against Kansas, you WILL NOT be dissapointed!

                 

2/28 Recap

Tough day today, didnt do great on alot of games but most importantly my play of the day was an easy win, USC +5.5!!!!!!!!!  When taking alot of college bball games ur bound to have ur bad nights, but there is always at least 1 play to win on... 26-4 now on my last 30 PODS.  2-0 since posting... more picks to come tommorow.  Also lost louisville -8 on a bullshit banked in 3 at the buzzer, unreal.... 3-6 overall on the day with USC hitting... see you tommorow..Below is my record since posting.

2/27 RECAP

Not a bad day... took more games than i would normally ever bet on just to give you guys a sample on my first post... Chose 17 games on the day and went 10-6-1 with my PLAY OF THE DAY the UAB BLAZERS winning outright by 7 points.  Like I said, begin tracking my plays of the day over the next 30 days.  Tonight makes me 1-0.  Everynight I will provide viewers with a Recap of the night and I will update my my record and my record for plays of the day.  Could have even had a better half if not for some second half comebacks by some teams but thats how it goes.
